Future Network Services (FNS)

Partners

Project overview

Future Network Services (FNS) aims for a leading international position for the Netherlands in 6G. It facilitates innovation in 6G networks and applications, and enables close cooperation between companies, knowledge institutes and the government. Project aims at boosting the Dutch economy and contributing to social issues around healthcare, mobility and energy. This way it serves to strengthen the position of the Netherlands in the global 6G value chain. The consortium consists of 60 companies, knowledge institutes and governments and focuses on developing the latest generation of mobile networks: 6G

The project is divided into 4 program lines (PL):

Program line 2 (where IS-Wireless is an active participant) develops AI-based algorithms and software modules for network orchestration and application development. These ensure that 6G networks will be more secure, reliable and energy- efficient. Furthermore, it develops programmable infrastructure, with better quality, increased network capacity and reduced complexity for users or administrators.

Role of IS-Wireless

IS-Wireless targets three main perspectives contributing to the future 6G standards namely: a) deep RAN disaggregation, b) zero trust security by design and c) radio resource management. The main aim pursued by IS-Wireless is to assure future 6G networks allow maximizing resource utilization in the cloud-edge continuum by means of enabling scaling the network efficiently to the available resources. Moreover we are focusing on leveraging AI/ML framework in assuring future proof 6G network management (task T2.3.2 is led by IS- Wireless). In addition to the above IS-Wireless explores the role and benefits of the digital twin for the future 6G networks.
